Why Is Your Baby Cereal Arsenic Threshold Higher Than Your Babyblends?
Updated over a month ago

At Little Spoon safety is our top priority and we have strict internal standards. We're the first and only baby food brand in the US to provide this level of transparency—and it's because that is what we believe parents deserve.

While the FDA has set an action level of 100 parts per billion (ppb) for arsenic in rice-based baby cereal, we go even further. We chose to avoid rice, which is naturally higher in arsenic, and instead make our cereal from oats, barley, and millet. Our internal standard for arsenic is 40 ppb—less than half of the FDA's limit for rice cereal. We have publicly available standards for all heavy metals, plus 551 additional toxins and contaminants we test our products for.

We also gather data at multiple stages, from raw grains to finished products, and benchmark our cereal against other products on the market to ensure it meets our high safety standards. If our products don't meet our testing standards, we don't sell them. It's that simple. With these safeguards in place, you can feel confident that our cereal is a safer choice for your baby.
